Higher Applications of Mathematics

The course comprises four areas. The first area, mathematical modelling, covers an introduction to mathematical modelling, errors and tolerances, relationships between variables, interpreting and evaluating models, and use of software. The second area, statistics and probability, covers basic probability, interpreting data, correlation and linear regression, and hypothesis testing and confidence intervals. The third area, finance, covers accumulation and present value, personal finance products, and financial planning. The fourth area, planning and decision making, covers representing compound projects, identifying critical paths, using Gantt charts, interpreting risk, and applying decisions to real-life contexts.
