Advanced Higher Biology

This course comprises 3 sections. The first section covers laboratory techniques for biologists, proteomics, protein structure, binding and conformational change, membrane proteins, detecting and amplifying an environmental stimulus, communication within multicellular organisms and protein control of cell division. The second section covers field techniques for biologists, evolution, variation, sexual reproduction, sex, behaviour, the parasite niche, transmission, virulence, immune response to parasites, macroparasites, microparasites and challenges in treatment and control. The third section covers scientific principles and process, experimentation and critical evaluation of biological research.
